The Uzbek government has recently denied a delegation of the human rights committee from the Social Democratic Party of Germany (SPD) entrance into Uzbekistan. Angelika Graf, the SPD committee representative, expressed her deep regret for the government’s decision, as it is currently harvest season and a crucial moment to review if Uzbekistan is abiding by the ILO conventions against forced child labour it has committed itself too. Denying the committee access to the country is an obvious sign that child labour is still common. This is the second time in one year the committee has been denied entry into Uzbekistan.
