Coalition of 89 civil society groups urges IFC and EBRD to act on allegations surrounding Indorama project in Uzbekistan

TASHKENT – Civil society organisations are calling on the International Finance Corporation (IFC) and the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) to act on allegations of “severe and systemic violations” by cotton producer Indorama Agro in Uzbekistan.

Indorama Agro, part of the Singapore-based Indorama Corporation, has been accused of human rights violations, including forced labour, and land grabs in Uzbekistan despite receiving $130 million in loans from IFC and EBRD to modernise cotton production.
