FORCED CHILD LABOR DURING THE COTTON HARVEST IN UZBEKISTAN: Monitoring results for the cotton harvest period from Sept.-Nov. 2011
This report, submitted to the UN Committee on the Rights of the Child, presents evidence of the systematic use of forced child labour in Uzbekistan’s cotton industry. Based on 130 interviews and field research, it exposes the state’s role in mobilising children for cotton harvesting under coercive conditions, disrupting education and violating international conventions.
